The Rankin Zoo 

Yesterday I had the good fortune of attending the Washington Redskins 45th Annual Welcome Home Luncheon. Wanting to look my best, I actually went out and bought a new suit a few weeks ago and wore it to the event. I wear a variety of things to work; sometimes t-shirts and jeans, sometimes a nice shirt and pants. It is very rare that I wear a tie, which became very obvious when I got home from work last night.

B and Coral were waiting for me to get home (I was running late) and they greeted me at the door. Coral took one look at me and asked, in a surprised voice, “Daddy, what’s that on your neck?”

Ha!

Last weekend after Coral got up from her nap she was running around like a maniac. I said to her, “Coral, can I ask you a question?” She replied, “yes” and came over to me so I could talk to her. I asked her if she wanted to go to the pool and she said, “YESSSSS!”

A few minutes later, she looked at me and said, “Daddy, can I ask you a question?” Suppressing a laugh I replied, “sure.” She came over to me and asked, “where is my bathing suit?!”

You might notice that RankinZoo.com looks a little different. The main difference is that I moved from Blogger to WordPress as my blogging tool. As a result, the site has a new look and works a little differently. Hopefully, by moving to WordPress I’ll be able to make the site even better in the future. Initially, I’ll probably have some problems as I learn how this new tool works.

A couple of important points:

• I did my best to import the old RankinZoo entries over into this new RankinZoo. Some of the things didn’t come over totally smoothly so if you look back at the particularly old stuff you may notice some goofy things. I’ll try to clean it up as time goes by.
• For the foreseeable future you should be able to get to the old site by going to original.rankinzoo.com. You should also be able to get to the gallery by going to original.rankinzoo.com/gallery - or us the link on this site over to the right.
• At some point, hopefully soon, I will figure out how I want to manage my photo galleries going forward. We’ll have to see - right now I’m using a couple of different things but I’d like to settle on just one solution.

Anyway, I hope the new RankinZoo works out okay. If you notice any major problems (or even minor ones!), please let me know.

Tonight as we were winding up dinner Coral and I had this little exchange:

• Me: Coral, do you want to take a bath upstairs or downstairs?
• Coral: Some people don’t like to get in the bath.
• Me: Really? Like who?
• Coral: Coral.
