Last night I was tucking Coral into bed. I was asking her which songs she wanted me to sing and I noticed that the whole time she was rubbing her eye.
So, I asked, “Coral, are you tired? You’re tired, aren’t you?”
She replied, “No… I’m rubbing my eye.”
The other day I took Coral to the toy store to kill some time. She’s actually really good at the toy store because she tends to want to put things back - so you don’t have to argue with her to not buy a million things. In fact, the other day B tried to buy Coral a little toy but Coral insisted on putting it back so they ended up not buying it.
Well, this time at the store Coral saw a stuffed alligator. She looked at it and said, “Coral need alligator.” Interesting. I asked her why she needed the alligator and she replied, “For night night.”
It’s true that Coral sleeps with about a dozen stuffed animals. And no, she doesn’t yet have an alligator as part of that collection, but I’m not sure she needs an alligator in order to go to sleep.
Well, her birthday is coming up so maybe before that I will document all of the stuffed animals that she does have in case anyone is interested in adding something new to her collection.
Here are a couple of Coral ABC videos. When she says the ABCs she usually skips a bunch at the start. When she sings them she tends to get in an infinite loop - when she gets to the part “Now I know my A B Cs…” she tends to start over. I’m still trying to get a really good video of one of her better performances.
Yesterday morning Coral and I got up fairly early and headed out to Sam’s Club to do some shopping. We chatted in the car and almost immediately I noticed something interesting about the way Coral was talking.
Instead of her usual, “yeah” or “yea” or “yup” or even “uh hu” she was very clearly saying “yesss”. It was obvious that she was carefully trying to say “yes” properly instead of using her usual slang. I have no idea what prompted this change, and she has kept it up today. She’s remarkably good at remembering that this is her new way of saying “yes” - I’ve caught her saying “yeah” only a couple of times.
It’s pretty hilarious.
