C and O

This morning as we were getting Coral ready for day care she pointed at the Cheerio’s box and yelled, “Ohs!” That’s not very unusual, she’s be a big fan of O’s for a long time now.

She studied the box some more and pointed at the first letter and said, “C” and after looking some more she spotted the “O” and pointed that out too. So it seems that she knows a handful of letters.

She can also count to 11 and she actually knows what 2 is (as in, “look, two dogs!”).

Not Yet

Since our addition was finished (with a new bathroom) and I replaced our old upstairs toilet (so it works a lot better) we decided to give gDiapers a try. They’re “flushable” diapers and I guess they’re supposed to be better for the environment than regular disposable diapers.

We got a starter pack and tried having Coral wear them. Well, she’s not really interested in trying a new kind of diaper - she likes the ones she has. So we’ve been talking to her about the gDiapers and how they’re soft and comfortable and pretty. She agrees that they’re soft and pretty, but she doesn’t want to try them on. We talk about it and usually resolve that we’ll try them tomorrow.

So most days I’ll say something like, “Hey Coral, do you want to try the gDiaper? It’s soft and pretty. You might like it. Do you want to try it?”

Lately her response has been, “not yet!”

No Daddy!

I try to get up most mornings with Coral because I don’t get to see her a lot during the day when I’m at work. Usually, between 6am - 7am, she starts to make noise from her room. It may be “mommmmy?” or “more bottle” or “nu-nu” or something like that.

Lately, when I go in to see her in the morning, and she realizes it’s me she runs to the corner of her crib and cries, “Nooooo, Daddy. Nooooo, Daddy.” I usually go over and talk to her, offer her some yogurt downstairs or a chance to feed breakfast to her fish, and she quickly warms up and off we go.

The other morning I stuck my head in and she said “No Daddy!” so I asked, “Do you want me to go back and lie down in bed?” and she said “Yeah.” So back to bed I went. A minute later she said, “more bottle? Daddy?” So I went back in there and asked her if she wanted to come lie in bed with me and mommy (it was like 6am). She said she did so off we went.

She was quiet for a few minutes and then squirmed a little and said “more bottle?” B asked her if she wanted more milk in her bottle and she said she did. B said, “you want mommy to go downstairs and get you a new bottle?”

Coral replied, “Daddy get it?”

Coral is definitely in a strong mommy-phase right now, which is interesting can make things difficult sometimes.
